HEART MADE OF WIND:

Pilgrim Go!

Some go by land, some go by sea
Some with a map, some in mystery
Some go by mind, some go by soul
Some go with God, some never go
Some know the sun, some know the rain
Some know hunger, some know pain
Some know the woodlands, some know the roads
Some know deserts, some never know
Peregrino, let the sunlight kiss your eyes when the
morning winds blow
Peregrino! Pilgrim go! Pilgrim go!

Dream of true loves, dream of games
Dream of victors, dream their names
See with your eyes closed while you roam
And when you wake, dream of home
Peregrino, let the sunlight kiss your eyes when the
morning winds blow
Peregrino! Pilgrim go! Pilgrim go!

You must go and take your chances, go take all the
midnight dances,
Pilgrim go! Pilgrim go!

Memphis

I didn't bring any blue suede shoes, but it had
nothing to do with Elvis anyway
We were down at the bluebird, and the songs were
through, and neither of us had ever been to Memphis
So we left on a dare in the middle of the night, we
drove out into the stormy moonlight
In a rental car with unlimited miles
The radio played songs about busy men, and we both
knew
That first you wish, and then you dream, and then you
turn the ignition
And you're on your way

We took a road called music highway, but there were
times when it was just the rain
Or just my heartbeat when you held my hand, but it was
all too much, so we turned the radio on again
And we left on a dare in the middle of the night, we
made our way through the stormy moonlight,
And we went half a mile past the boundary of "just
friends"
It all went by in just a blur and through it all, you
can wish, or you can dream, but just keep floorin' the
pedal
And you're on your way

We saw a bridge out in the distance, and it was lit up
like a carnival
And it crossed the Mississippi before we knew what
happened
We never knew that we'd hit Arkansas, we laughed out
in the rain
But we had to get back to Nashville in time to catch
our plane

It says now or never in the Elvis song, but just this
once I hope he's wrong
'Cause there was no time left to kill,
And there's that kiss we didn't steal
But we left on a dare in the middle of the night, I'll
always remember that stormy moonlight
In all the times when I will think of you
'Cause I know Memphis taught you well, and I know that
first you'll wish and then you'll dream and then
you'll catch a plane
And you're on your way

I Can't Hold Your Shadow

In a dream I am walking by a cold and restless sea
Through the wind I think I hear your voice calling to
me
And I can feel your arms as they hold your heart to
mine
But I awaken holding a shadow; I am lost in a darkness
that makes me blind

Tell me, how long will I hold this shadow, when will I
see the light?
Every time I feel you near me you are somehow lost in
the night
How long will you leave me wondering, will you ever
choose to stay?
Every time I thought you loved me you have suddenly
slipped away
And I can't hold your shadow

I am standing in the rain trying to rid my thoughts of
you
But all I think of are those nights you left me
speechless and confused
You touch my hand, I feel my heart begin to slip
And your eyes taunt me with a love that is just beyond
my grip

Tell me, how long will I hold this shadow, when will I
see the light?
Every time I feel you near me you are somehow lost in
the night
How long will you leave me wondering, will you ever
choose to stay?
Every time I thought you loved me you have suddenly
slipped away
And I can't hold your shadow

I'm afraid to fall for you again, I tell my heart
beware
Will you be there to catch me or will I shatter into
pieces that I can't repair?

The Key to My Heart

Try as I may to believe it, it's something that can't
be true
That I'd really find me another who could make me
forget all about you
Their intentions are true but they just can't get to
me
Baby, can't you see

There's only one key to my heart
And there's only one man who can turn that key
And the way that it looks, there is only one place it
could be
You're the only one for me

Other guys try to make themselves a copy with their
amateur locksmith skills
But they're just cheap and shiny imitations; still I
long for the one that is real
Baby, can't you see the mistake my life would be
Without you holding me

There's only one key to my heart
And there's only one man who can turn that key
And the way that it looks, there is only one place it
could be
Please bring it back to me

Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back to me
Baby, please, can't you see? You're the only one for
me

Wednesday

I only think of you on Wednesday when the toast is
done and the grass is green
And the sun is rising in a Technicolor sky
And it's just the kind of morning that I wish you
could have seen
Some people miss their lovers on Monday when they're particularly blue You don't remind me of anything that lonely Wednesdays are the only days I ever think of you

I only think of you on Wednesdays in silly places like
the grocery store
When I remember when you let me wear your sweater
When you were picking out the ice-cream bars
Some people miss their lovers on Friday when they've
got no place to go
I only think of you on Wednesdays for all the simple
happiness we ever used to know

You've been long enough gone that I have long since
forgotten
All the nights we used to paint the town
On ordinary days when I go about my business
That's when I notice that you're not around
That's when I start to get to feeling down
So if you wonder if I miss you in wintertime when the
snow begins to fall
I don't think about you every single day, but that
doesn't mean I never think of you at all
Some people miss their lovers on Christmas amidst the
customary cheer
I only think of you on Wednesdays and every other
ordinary day of the year

Paint it Red

Blue lady on a chair by the window, thinking how her
dreams and reality collide
Blue sky how it mocks her emotions, laughing in the
face of the nights she's cried

Stand up, move your feet, change your life to an
upbeat
You've got to turn around, look straight ahead
Take your world and paint it red

Green man on a bench by the streetway, staring at the
girl on the other guy's arm
Green grass, like his soul that she walks on; he was
safety but she went for the charm

Stand up, move your feet, change your life to an
upbeat
You've got to turn around, look straight ahead
Take your world and paint it red

Like the color of your heart
Like the color of the dreams you can't ignore
So what are you waiting for?
Red!

I Am Not A Fortune Teller

I am not a fortune teller, I am not your psychic
friend
I don't claim to know tomorrow, I don't even try to
pretend
But I can be your storyteller, and I can be your
oldest friend
And I can be the sentinel for all the dreams that you
defend

I am not a mystery, I am not a foreign code
I am not an ancient myth that any man has ever told
But I can be your miracle, and the coat that covers
you
And when the windy world tells lies, my love will tell
the truth

And if we ever really said goodbye, it's nothing I've
rehearsed
Maybe I could laugh it off, maybe my whole heart would
burst
I don't know if time will be a blessing or a curse
I can't hold the second hand, but you can hold my
first

I can't give you dark or danger to make you realize
what you've had
But every time we try to act like strangers, it only
makes us both feel sad
I am not a fortune teller, but I can tell a fortune
true
Ever time it stands before me, and every time I think
of you

One More Star

Is it the color of your eyes? Is it the shape of your
lips?
Is it just me, cause I have never seen you quite like
this
Is it the sound of your voice, the way you're saying
my name?
Call me crazy, but I'm telling you it's not the same

Maybe with one more star in the sky, one more taken
chance, one more dance
Just one less space between you and I, and you could
be starting something

I always liked your smile the way it was before
But tonight it's different, and I'm wondering what
that smile is for
The way it stops my heart, the way it takes my breath
If it's just you, well then why am I so scared to
death?

Maybe with one more star in the sky, one more taken
chance, one more dance
Just one less space between you and I, and you could
be starting something

Hear my voice, listen to my song, lose your head and
take me along
Strike the match that lights this flame
Kiss me and I'll forget my name

One more star in the sky, one more taken chance, one
more dance
Just one less space between you and I
And you could be starting something

Going Home

They play guitars underneath the sky, I've seen it all firsthand And they sing and they dance and they smile, and speak a language that I understand And the starlight makes it's magic just the way I've seen it happen a thousand times before And if so much is the same, there's no way I could be that far from home These bridges all have railways, the streets have dotted lines, it comes as no surprise And with every mile that passes underneath my wheels, the pictures change before my eyes As the sunlight hits the buildings in the rising and the setting of familiar warmth and gold And if so much is the same there's no way I could be that far from home Beyond this city there's a bakery; across the borders I can smell it's gravitational pull Beyond this country someone's praying; do they know that I'll be back before they know? I break my fifty and I trade it for a one-way bus pass headed north And the landmarks fly straight past me out the window of everything I've seen before And the engine takes to humming, I fall asleep and start to dream of all the happiness I know But if I can smell the bread, check the mail, get the phone, climb my roof, see your house, hear the bells, have this dream There's no way in this world that I could ever really be that far from home

Heart Made of Wind

Close your eyes and wait to hear your name like a
whisper in your soul
And in a moment I'll be rushing over you in a memory
of a moment we once stole

With a heart made of wind I will run through the
clover and I'll fly to the city
Slip away through the trees
And though I'm far away I will love you all over the
face of the earth
With my heart made of wind

You will find I'm not you're average breeze; I can
tear down a house when I get strong
And in the nighttime I'll go dancing in the trees, and
I will soothe you with my warm and gentle song

With a heart made of wind I will run through the
clover and I'll fly to the city
Slip away through the trees
And though I'm far away I will love you all over the
face of the earth
With my heart made of wind

And I'll be gone as quickly as I came, but I'll mess
up your hair before I go
And if I'm wilder than the ones you knew before, I'm
just holding you the only way I know
